How to Learn Magic
Magic can only be learned by approved adults.
Learning magic requires drawing your staxie preforming (or attempting to preform) the abilities for a specific kind of magic.
Each type of magic has four abilities that your staxie must learn to become official in that type of magic.
Basic Elemental Magics
Water, Earth, Fire, Air.
These are the four basic elemental magics from which all other complex magics come from. To learn complex magics (ie. necromancy, conjuration, etc), one must first learn all four of the basic elemental magics.
The elemental magics are considered relatively easy to learn as they are rooted in something physical and tangible, unlike complex magics. It is said that the elements are necessary to learn other complex magics because it strengthens a staxie's bond to the magic tides, allowing them to dip into harder magics.
Intermediate Elemental Magics
While the basic elements are commonly known by staxies, the intermediate elements tend to be a forgotten art by young, eager magicians. The intermediate elements are usually viewed as "boring additions to the already boring basic elements", so they are often overlooked. However, those who work in trades see the value in learning these magics, so they are never truly forgotten.
To learn intermediate elemental magics, a staxie must already be official in the corresponding element's basic magic.
(ie. they must know basic water to learn intermediate water, or basic earth to learn intermediate earth, etc.)
Intermediate Complex Magics
Necromancy, Illusion, Evocation, Abjuration, Enchantment, Conjuration, Transmutation, Divination.
The eight intermediate complex magics. These magics allow for more specific manipulation of the magic tides, thus require an already skilled magician's hand... save for one ability per staxie.
When a stump grows up, they gain a magic gland somewhere on their body, the location of the gland corresponds to a complex ability that they can learn without any prior magic training.
The Eyes: Necromancy
The Cheeks: Illusion
The Neck: Evocation
The Chest: Abjuration
The Back: Enchantment
The Hands: Conjuration
The Feet: Transmutation
The Tail: Divination
Mechanically, this means your staxie can immediately start learning their corresponding element (shown above) without having learned any basic magic! So, while your staxie with Cheek glands can learn Illusion magic without prior magic training, if you want them to learn Necromancy, they must first be official in the four basic magics.

• Choose your own prompts.
• Free if you used all your magic tickets already!
• Might discover something new?
Cons
• Only run certain times a year.
• Time crunch. (drawings MUST be done within the one week time window)
• Prompts might be specific and not allow too much room for interpretation.
Remedial Magic Classes
Sometimes things happen and you miss a deadline for a magic class. It happens to the best of us. Worry not! Once a year, just before the anniversary, those who didn't pass a magic class have one last chance to finish learning. A remedial class is taught, free to anyone who failed a class during the last year. A polished piece must be submitted for each missing ability, even if two polished pieces were already done. This allows the staxie to become official in their magic and still have access to class-only upgrades!
More info will be released later on!
Cons
• Requires 8 polished pieces for intermediate magic (2 for each ability)
• You must wait one month after posting your first magic image to become official in your magic.(EXCEPT for Basic Magics which have no cooldown)
• Must go to #magic-approvals to become official in magic.
